Christmas Gorilla group is a newly habituated gorilla family group in Nkuringo sector of Bwindi impenetrable national park.
It’s successful habituation led to increase in number of Gorilla permits in this sector. This gorilla group is headed by Christmas-the dominant silverback who was born on Christmas day (25th/December). That is how it attained its name “Christmas.”

Other members of the group include three adult females, one blackback and one infant. Much as only 6 members are always sighted during tracking, the family is believed to comprise of up to 9 members.
Nkuringo sector had only one gorilla family named Nkuringo before Bushaho and now Christmas were habituated for tracking. With these more gorilla families, 24 gorilla permits from 8 are now available for tourists planning to track from this remarkable region/sector.
Much as Uganda’s top selling attraction is mountain gorillas, there is also a lot to see in Uganda that gave it a slogan it holds upto date.
The slogan talked about is “pearl of Africa.” There are other attractions such as the big five animals like the lions, leopards and others, other primates (Chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys and grey cheeked Mangabeys among others), waterfalls, mountains and the many other several breathtaking sceneries that await tourists visiting the country.
In conclusion, Uganda’s gorilla tracking permits were hiked to $700.
